Level of Difficulty: Hiking down the first drainage is moderate to strenuous. There are downed tree's that you will have climb over, under or work your way around at times. Some parts of the drainage as you get halfway down, widen and the hike is moderate except for the downed tree's. Getting up the hills to get to the top of Twist Top falls is strenuous some after you work your way up the drainage that is moderate. The hills are steeper on this side. Working your way along the hill side from one drainage to another can be strenuous at times and moderate at times. Hiking along the OHT is easy to moderate.
Hiking Statistics of Loop: 6.32 mikes/ Ascent is 1,193 ft / Descent is 1,214 ft /
You could get to the parking area from Hwy 21 or from Hwy 123. I was coming from Northwest Arkansas so I turned onto CR# 5570 off of Hwy 21. I then drove to the town of Rosetta and then took a right onto CR 5671 and headed south on that to the parking area. There is an old road by the parking area that I started my hike on but was not on it long at all when I could see that I was close to the drainage very quickly. I started heading down at an angle to the right to get to the water and in the drainage. I crossed a part of the OHT while I was bushwhacking down to the drainage. I first came across 6 cascades while hiking down the drainage. I took photo's and marked them all. After those, I came across waterfalls 1 and 2 before reaching Ludlow Falls. I used the hill to the left of the top of the falls to get down below the falls. I took some time there to get photo's and mark it all before moving on. I came across another cascade and then when I worked my way up the hill to my left to get below another waterfall, I found myself on an old road. I went a little ways but did not use it much since I wanted to get back down into the drainage and below the falls. I got down below Blessing Falls and spent some time there. After I was done there, I continued on my way down the drainage and came across 4 more waterfalls and 3 cascades. After I reached the 3rd cascade, which was after the 4 waterfalls, I looked up to my right and seen the bluffs up there so I decided to go up and check them out. I headed up hill at coordinates 35.66590, -93.34267. I made my way to the bluffs and went along it to see multiple features and rock formations. After I reached Feature 4, I decided to head back down to the drainage so I headed down hill at coordinates 35.66606, -93.34025. I came to another cascade when I got back down into the drainage. I then decided to cross it and then found myself on another old road for a little ways but I wanted to stay in the drainage. I came across 4 more cascades and waterfall 9 while making my way down to Cedar Creek. Once I got down there, I took a left and came across a neat rock formation. I knew that I wanted to go up a drainage on the other side of the creek so I eventually crossed the creek and then found myself on another old road on the other side of the creek. Once I reached the drainage on the right, I turned and started heading up it. I came across waterfalls 10 and 11 as well as a couple of cascades. I took time to take photo's of them all and to mark them. I passed by 3 more cascades while working my way up the drainage before I'd seen a tall falls to my right up a tiny drainage. This is Cedar Creek Falls. I spent some time there enjoying the area and taking photo's. When I was done there, instead of going right back down to the main drainage, I hiked along the bluffs a little ways and hiked down at an angle to get back into the drainage. I then came to this very cool area that has a small waterfall (falls 14) just before Twist Top Falls. I took photo's and then I went over to the right to get above that and to go between the bluffs on both sides to be in front of Twist Top Falls. I spent a lot of time there and took a break. I believe it was my favorite part of the hike. There was no way to get above it there with me being between 2 bluffs so I had to go back down below the other falls and then hike along the bluff to my right as I'm going away from WF 14. I hiked along the bluff for a ways and came across 3 other waterfalls. I finally found an access point to get up above the bluff at coordinates 35.66934, -93.32960. I worked my way up that and then hiked to the right along the top of the bluff to get back to the drainage. After I got myself back in the drainage, I came across another cascade before reaching 2 other nice waterfalls. The 2 waterfalls further up that I reached are Elview Falls and then Gilvern Falls. I spent a lot of time at both waterfalls. After I was done at Gilvern falls, I'd seen on my gps that I was most of the way up that drainage so I decided to start working my way up the hillside from there to cut over to the drainage I wanted to hike along to get back down into the main creek. I turned around with my back towards Gilvern falls and looked at the hill to my right and started working my way up the hills at coordinates 35.66938, -93.32525. I worked my way up and all around the hillside to coordinates 35.67512, -93.32722 and then I started heading down hill at an angle to get into the other drainage. I worked my way down to where I was at coordinates 35.67626, -93.32526 and I could see Ebony Falls around the bluff. I then worked my way along the bluff and behind Ebony falls and then down in front of it. I spent a long time there also and took another break. I looked at the time and seen that it was getting late and that I better get going but I also knew that I'd be on the OHT on my way out for a distance. I headed down the drainage towards the creek and came across 2 more waterfalls and 6 cascades while working my way down. Once I was back down at Cedar Creek, I crossed the creek and then started heading up the hills at coordinates 35.67724, -93.33292. I knew that if I kept going up, I would eventually get onto the OHT and I was on it at coordinates 35.67810, -93.33501. I took a left onto the OHT and hiked along that until the trail crosses the drainage that I originally came down. At the drainage, I took a right and bushwhacked back up to the old road that I parked next to. I took a left onto that old road and hiked along that back to my car.
